Edwardian Preserve Pot w/ Silver Lid, B'ham, 1910

This is a charming Edwardian Glass Preserve Pot with a Sterling Silver Lid. The glass pot is bulbous with a star cut base. The lid is plain with an arched handle. There is an engraving on the lid which reads KCC from W. & E. F. 9.11.12.
The preserve pot was made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths William Hutton & Sons Ltd and dates to 1910, the final year of the Edwardian era. William Hutton founded his firm in Birmingham in 1800 but transferred the company to Sheffield in 1832. Later they company would open further premises in Birmingham and London alongside their Sheffield HQ. The firm was taken over by James Dixon & Sons in 1930 but the William Hutton & Sons mark continued to be used for some time after this date.
Condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the glass and just a couple of tiny dings in the silver lid plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 110 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The preserve pot is 8.8cm / 3.4ins in diameter and stands 9.7cm / 3.8ins high to the top of the handle. The lid by itself weighs a very respectable 33.2g / 1.17oz of solid Sterling Silver and all together the pot weighs in at 275.6g / 9.7oz.
The hallmarks on the side of the lid are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter l for 1910 and the distinctive W H & Ss Ld in a quatrefoil makers' mark for William Hutton & Sons Ltd.
