Edwardian Silver Baby Fork, A.J. Bailey, 1910

This is an attractive Edwardian Sterling Silver Baby Fork. The fork is in the traditional Old English pattern but enhanced by scroll and foliate engraving down the length of the stem and onto the head of the fork. There is a blank cartouche at the top of the stem.
This was probably originally part of a set with a matching spoon but at some point in the past they have become separated and we only have the fork.
The baby fork was made in Birmingham by silversmiths A.J. Bailey and dates to 1910. The firm of A.J.Bailey was established in Birmingham in the 1890s, later becoming A.J. Bailey & Son. They principally produced flatware and tableware and were very successful, remaining in business under the management of the Bailey family until well into the 1970s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The fork is 13.2cm / 5.2ins long and weighs in at a respectable 15.9g / 0.56oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the head of the fork, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter l for 1910 and the A.J.B makers' mark for A.J. Bailey.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
