Edwardian Silver Cream Jug, Saunders & Shepherd

Here we have a very elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug with a part scalloped reeded body. The jug is made by Saunders & Shepherd in Birmingham and dates to 1902. The extravagantly named Cornelius Desormeaux Saunders and James Francis Hollings Shepherd had marks registered in both Birmingham & London. They seem to have mostly manufactured in Birmingham and retailed through their luxury goods store in the City of London, selling high quality and high end personal items to affluent folk from the 1870s to the 1920s.
This lovely little cream jug is a well made piece in a good gauge of silver. It has a part scalloped reeded body, which looks like two clam shells enclosing the lower part of the jug. There is a simple c-scroll handle and a broad lip. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
Condition is very good with just one truly miniscule ding above the hallmark and only the most superficial of surface wear. It has clearly been well looked after for the best part of 120 years! Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The jug is 8.5cm / 3.4" from lip to handle, 4.9cm / 1.8" across the body and 5.6cm / 2.25" high. It weighs a very respectable 34.6g / 1.22oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, just above the decorated part of the body, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "c" for 1902 and the CSFS makers mark for Saunders & Shepherd.
