Edwardian Silver Cream Jug, Williams Ltd, 1901
This is an elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug of part-reeded design. It is an oval jug with a flat topped handle and reeded decoration around the lower part of the body. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The cream jug is made in Birmingham by Williams of Birmingham Ltd and dates to 1901. Williams were based in Goodman Street in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter between 1902 and 1929.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after 120 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 9.3cm from lip to handle, 4.8cm across and stands 6.1cm high. It weighs a very respectable 46.2g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks just below the rim of the jug are clear to read, although one letter on the makers' mark is a little rubbed. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter b for 1901 and the distinctive W B Ld in a heart shape makers' mark for Williams of Birmingham Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
