Fine Georgian Silver Bombe Mustard Pot 1817

A very nice quality George III silver mustard pot of bombe shape set on four ball feet off a collet base. Reeded bands decorate the middle and it has a finely shaped handle with curved squared top and external spur with kicked out terminal. The rim is cast with an ornate egg and dart type pattern and the hinged cover has a curved, stepped shape with sarcophagus knop. Fitted with a blue glass liner. An attractive engraved crest to the front of a stag's head erased.
Hallmarked for London 1817, the maker's mark is partially rubbed, "?.H", and partial marks inside the cover.
It measures 8.3cm (3 1/4") by 7cm (2 3/4") deep across the body, 10.2cm (4") including the handle, and 7cm (2 3/4") high. It weighs 287g complete with the liner the silver weighs 160g / 5.1ozt.
