Fine Pair of Japanese Meiji Satsuma Vases %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a good pair of Japanese Satsuma vases in perfect condition dating from the late Meiji period circa 1900. The vases have lovely rich designs to the garlic neck with a floral diaper which is raised and gilded. The bodies of both vases have interesting scenes that depict many Samurai in the foreground of Lake Biwa with Mount Fuji in the background. The hand painted detail and gilding is quite fine and the work is signed by the artist Dai Nippon to the underside. These are in perfect condition with no damage or restoration and measure 14.5 cms in height.

(They both are accompanied by an associated, later carved hardwood stand.)
