George II sugar caster, Dinah Gamon, 1743
George II bun-shaped sugar caster, decorated later with four embossed and engraved panels above a girdle depicting pheasants, scrolls, flowers and foliage separated by flowing ribbing. Below the girdle is further embossed and engraved foliate and scroll decoration. The pull-off pierced cover includes a gadrooned rim. The pedestal base is embellished with a bright-cut surround, and stands on a stepped circular foot.
The cartouche is engraved with the Reddie family armorial depicting an arm in armour wielding a scimitar, and the family motto 'Reddie Aye Reddie'.
