George III Silver Goblet, James Mince, 1798 George III Georgian 1790s %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Here we have an elegant small George III Sterling Silver Goblet with a Gilt interior. The goblet has a stepped circular base, an hourglass stem and a panelled bowl. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The goblet was made in London by silversmith James Mince and dates to 1798. James Mince registered his mark at Goldsmith’s Hall in London in 1790. He made a range of tableware from condiment sets to teapots, all of consistently good quality. He remained in business into the early 1800s, possibly up to 1810.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, some slight gilding loss and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 225 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The goblet stands 10.2cm / 4ins high and is 5.2cm / 2ins in diameter. It weighs in at a very respectable 67.9g / 2.39oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the base, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crowned leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter C for 1798, the George III duty mark and the I M in an oval makers' mark for James Mince.

Shipping in the UK is £12.50 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the goblet.
