George III Silver Salt Spoon, T. Johnson, 1815 Georgian Salt Spoon %%alt5%%
This is a well made George III Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the traditional Old English pattern. The salt spoon is made in London by Thomas Johnson and dates to 1815. Thomas Johnson was an accomplished silversmith who made a variety of silver tableware between around 1800 and 1820.

The spoon is made in a good gauge of silver and has the initials PR elegantly engraved in a foliate style at the top of the stem. Thomas Johnson's mark is not common making this a good addition for any collector or a lovely gift for someone with the initials PR.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most superficial surface wear. The spoon has clearly been well looked after for over 200 years! Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The spoon is a good size being 10.4cm / 4.1" long and weighing in at 9.1g / 0.32oz of Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are very crisp and clear to read, particularly for their age. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter "U" for 1815, the George III duty mark and the TJ makers' mark for Thomas Johnson.
