Here we have a charming George III Sterling Silver Scoop Style Caddy Spoon with a turned wood handle. The scoop of the spoon is in plain silver with no initials or personalisation. The turned wood handle is coloured dark green.

The caddy spoon is made in Birmingham by William Pugh and dates to 1806. William Pugh was active in Birmingham for a fairly short period of time between 1801 and around 1816. He is best known for his caddy spoons and vinaigrettes, both of which are much sought after by collectors.

Condition is very good with just the superficial wear that you would expect after around 215 years of use. The green colour of the handle is wearing a little thin in places but it has no splits or damage in it. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The caddy spoon is 9.8cm / 3.9ins long and 3cm / 1.2ins wide across the scoop. It weighs 8.4g / 0.3oz but this does of course include the wood of the handle.

The hallmarks in the bowl of the scoop are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter II for 1806, the George III duty mark and the WP makers' mark for William Pugh.
