George III Silver Trophy Loving Cup 1784
A very nice 18th century silver trophy cup or loving cup with raised half reeded handles with cast acanthus leaf terminals. Beading to the rim and foot and bright cut engraved and punched decoration under the rim and around the foot and on each side used to create oval reserves, free from engraving. Hallmarked under the foot for London 1784, makers Abraham Peterson and Peter Podio.
It measures 14.7cm (5 3/4") high, 11.4cm (4 1/2") to the rim, 11cm (4 3/8") wide rim to rim and 17.2cm (6 3/4") across the handles. It weighs 315g / 10.1ozt.
Condition is very good with no damage, dents or repairs. There is a very fractional lean but not of consequence when on display. Minimal handling wear, the engraving is crisp and and the hallmarks are excellent. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
