George V Silver Pierced Bowl, S.J. Levi, 1933

Here we have a top quality George V Sterling Silver Pierced Bowl from the 1930s in a good heavy gauge of silver. The bowl is round with a scalloped rim and six heart shaped panels filled with pierced decoration and joined by inverted pierced chevron panels.
The bowl is made in Birmingham by the silversmiths S.J. Levi & Co and dates to 1933. Founded around 1900, S.J. Levi were most active during the twenties and thirties and seem to have ceased trading around the start of the Second World War. Although not commonly seen, their items are always of consistently high quality.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings, dents or damage to the delicate pierced sections and just the minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected in an item that is nearly 90 years old. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bowl is 14.2cm / 5.6ins in diameter and stands 2.5cm / 1in high. It weighs a very substantial 93.4g / 3.3oz, even more remarkable when you consider how much of the piece has pierced decoration.
The hallmarks on the top rim of the bowl are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter J for 1933 and the S.J.L. & Co makers' mark for S.J. Levi & Co Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the bowl.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
