George V Silver Salt Spoon, Daniel & Arter, 1931

This is a good quality George V Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in the revived Hanoverian pattern with its distinctive upturned end to the stem. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The salt spoon was made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Daniel & Arter and dates to 1931. Founded in Birmingham by Thomas Henry Daniel and Thomas Richard Arter in the 1880s, Daniel & Arter are best known for their high quality silver plate, particularly the Nevada Silver brand, but they also produced a range of good Sterling Silver tableware and flatware. They manufactured in Birmingham but also had a prestigious showroom in London’s Holborn Viaduct, later moved to Hatton Garden. After around 50 years in business the firm closed in the 1930s, a victim of the economic downturn of the Depression.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no salt corrosion and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salt spoon is 8.2cm / 3.2ins long and weighs a respectable 8.3g / 0.29oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the back of the bowl, are a little rubbed but still easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter G for 1931 and the D & A makers' mark for Daniel & Arter.
Shipping in the UK is £4.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
