Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale a fine quality hand made late 18th Century hallmarked silver caddy spoon in the English pattern with fine bright cut decoration to the bowl and handle, the handle has a cartouche that is monogrammed with the letter "W". A delightful George III period caddy spoon that would make an ideal gift or an excellent addition to any silver flatware collection.
Details:
Silversmith: George Burrows I (active between 1765-1800)
Assay office: London (lacks leopard head mark)
Year of manufacture: 1789
Weight: 8 grams
Length: 7 cm
Condition report:
In overall very good condition for its age of 232 years, however there is a very minor microscopic split to the bowl, this is barely visible without a jeweller's loop and is around 1 mm (0.1cm) in length, there are some minor age related scratches particularly to a small area to the reverse of the bowl and some minor tarnish marks, the bright cut decoration is in excellent order. The spoon carries a good part set of hallmarks.
This is a quality caddy spoon with an all round beautiful shape and design a collectable and beautiful piece of Georgian silver that will look just delightful on display.
