Japanese Lacquerware Footed Plate
Dating to the turn of the 19th and 20th century this is an unusual form papier mache footed plate/shallow dish with vine leaf shaped handles is in the Japanese aesthetic style, depicting various iconographic images of birds and dragons with a central cartouche of noble ladies. The plate is hand decorated over a traditional black lacquer body.
Condition is very good, no more than the to be expected age and use marks, but nothing major and there are no breaks nor repairs.
26 cm max width 22 cm without handles and 3cm high. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
