A superb large pierced brass late Georgian Footman dating from circa 1830. Substantial size, beautifully pierced it features a pierced top and sides decorated with geometric designs and scrolls and is raised on cabriole front legs with hairy paw feet. To the sides there are two beautifully spiral turned handles. Footmen were used to stand plates or dishes on near the fire to warm them, or to stand kettles on etc. These look great in Inglenook fireplaces or as coffee antique tables.

Solid and sturdy with wear and marks commensurate with age. Split to one of the pierced decorations to the back, structurally solid.
