Pair George V English Sterling Silver Candlesticks
A good pair of English Sterling Silver Candlesticks made by Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd at their Rockingham Street works in Sheffield, retailed by Mackay & Chisholm, of Princes Street, Edinburgh.
The candlesticks are of octagonal form.
They are hallmarked with the maker's mark "HE Ld" for Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd, the Lion Passant sterling Silver mark, the crown town mark for Sheffield and date letter for 1913/14.
The underside of the bases also stamped with the retailer's name "Mackay & Chisholm, Edinburgh".
The bases are loaded - common with candlesticks where the base has heavier material inside for greater stability for obvious reasons.
