Pair of Silver Napkin Rings, Mappin & Webb, 1912

This is an attractive Cased Pair of George V Sterling Silver Napkin Rings. The napkin rings are circular and each one has five pierced panels of a stylised floral design. They come supplied in their original fitted Mappin & Webb box and sit in a rich green velvet tray.
The napkin rings were made in Birmingham by world famous silversmiths Mappin & Webb and date to 1912. Originally founded in 1810 by Joseph Mappin Snr, in 1859 the firm split into two parts which would become Mappin Brothers and Mappin & Webb. They were reunited when Mappin & Webb bought Mappin Brothers in 1902. The firm remained in the Mappin family until it was merged with Walker & Hall and Elkington & Co to form British Silverware in 1963.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the delicate pierced panels and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 110 years of good service. The box is a little scuffed on the outside but still looks smart inside and the hinges and clasp are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each napkin ring is 4.6cm / 1.8ins in diameter and 3.3cm / 1.3ins deep. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 45.0g / 1.6oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the front of each ring, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter n for 1912 and the Mn & Wb in a shield makers' mark for Mappin & Webb.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the napkin rings.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
