Patinated bronze sculpture signed "DRUOT".

Description: Patinated bronze sculpture signed Druot representing Hebe with the eagle of Jupiter.
This beautiful girl is Hebe, daughter of Zeus and Hera.
She is the handmaid of her mother and the cupbearer of the gods with the task of serving nectar and ambrosia, to ensure the Olympians eternal youth.
Hebe is therefore the personification of flourishing youth, which the Romans identified with the Goddess Iuventas, the protector of adolescents.
One fine day on Olympus, Hebe is serving the gods when she slips to the ground.
Her dress opens and slips away the girl remains naked in front of the "scandalized" bystanders.
No one has a word of comfort for her, indeed she receives only looks of disapproval.
Zeus takes the opportunity to remove her from her role as cupbearer.
In this role, Ganymede will be promoted, the beautiful Trojan prince that Zeus himself had kidnapped some time before, taking the form of an eagle (note the painting, bottom right).
Hebe will instead marry Heracles.
For the hero, who has become a demigod at the end of his labors, marriage to the girl will mean access to immortality.
General Condition: Good Condition.
Origin: France 19th century.
Measurements: 45x25 H76cm.

Assistance: We are at your disposal for further clarifications or photographic details.

We wish you a Good Day.
