French 950 silver and gold ULTRA VANITY / powder compact.

This compact is suitable for use with loose face powder or as a handbag mirror.

This is a high quality & rare fully hallmarked powder compact made from very high grade 950 silver made c. late 1930s. The lid has a rich vermeil design of hand engraved floral motifs & incised diamond shapes. The vermeil (gold on high grade silver) lid makes this an appropriate golden wedding anniversary gift. All of the other surfaces on the exterior case have a beautiful & very precise multitude of engraved squares. Such is the precision & quality of this vanity that when closed the hinge is completely invisible. On pressing the thumb catch the lid glides open to reveal an excellent bevelled mirror which gives a perfect reflection. The lid, base & mirror bezel are fully hallmarked. Another delightful thing about this vanity is the aroma - the original down puff & fully hallmarked sifter are in place & they are infused the most delicious aroma of what is obviously the most superb French perfume. The compact is in excellent condition & this is highly likely to be because it has been kept in the original high quality rigid pouch. All clasps & hinges work perfectly.

This solid silver compact measures an exact 7 cm X 7 cm (excluding the thumb catch & weighs 126.5 grams.
