This solid silver powder compact is suitable for use with loose and pressed / solid face powder or as a handbag mirror.
This is a fully hallmarked sterling silver powder compact from the "Mayfair" series of Kigu compacts. The compact has never been used and it is in superb condition. It is for sale in the original satin lined presentation box with all the original accessories - a felt lined pouch, silk puff, sifter and docket stating " This KIGU Compact Is Hall Marked Solid Silver ". It was assayed at London in 1978. The lid is decorated with a classic " barley corn " engine turned design and a " bright initial medallion combines simplicity in design with restrained elegance ". All clasps and hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent and gives a accurate clear reflection. The compact is hallmarked throughout. The powder well rim is signed " KIGU LONDON ". The original instruction leaflet / protective paper insert is in place and it states " KIGU OF LONDON Convertible COMPACT for loose or solid powder. The " KIGU PLUS " sifter is WASHABLE, HYGENIC and of LASTING QUALITY. PATENTED. To remove empty container insert nailfile into gap. " The base is decorated with the most exquisite guilloche engraving which reflects the Kigu goldsmith's tradition.

This vintage powder compact measures 3 " & weighs 82.5 grams.
