Silver Bourbon Decanter Label, C.J. Vander, 1975
This is a very good quality Mid-Century Sterling Silver Decanter Label from the 1970s. The label is made in London by C.J. Vander Ltd and dates to 1975. The wonderfully named Cornelius Joshua Vander founded the company in 1886 and they remained in business right up until 2007.
The decanter label is in the shape of a scallop shell with a band across the front engraved "BOURBON". It is a very well made piece in a good gauge of silver and with a decent length of silver chain so that it sits comfortably around the neck of a decanter or bottle.
Condition is excellent with no dings or dents and only the most minimal of surface wear. It is ideal for use today. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The decanter label measures 5cm x 3.7cm / 2" x 1.5" and weighs in at a very respectable 15.2g / 0.54oz.
The hallmarks on the front of the label are easy to read although the makers' mark is a little rubbed. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "A" for 1975 and the C.J.V Ld makers' mark for C.J. Vander Ltd.
