Victorian Silver Teaspoons, Tongs & Sifter Set

Here we have a very attractive late Victorian set of Sterling Silver Teaspoons, Sugar Tongs & Sifter Spoon in their original case with a luxurious deep green interior. The pieces are in a pattern featuring shell and acanthus decoration at the top of the stem and a barley twist to the lower part of the stem.
The items are made in Birmingham by T.H. Hazlewood & Co and date to 1900. The firm was founded in the mid-1880s and remained in business up until the mid-1920s. They produced a wide range of personal items but very little flatware, so this is quite a rare set to find.
Condition is generally good with no dings or dents, with the exception of the bowls on the sugar tongs which are a little misshapen. Other than that, there is just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after 120 years of use! The box has a small amount of scuffing to the outside but the hinges and clasp are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoons are each 10.7cm / 4.25ins long, the sugar tongs are 9.6cm / 3.75ins long and the sifter spoon is 10.9cm / 4.3ins long. The set of six teaspoons, sugar tongs & sifter spoon (unboxed) weighs in at a very respectable 71.8g / 2.53oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the teaspoons & sifter spoon are nice and clear to read but a little rubbed on the inside of the hinge of the sugar tongs. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter a for 1900 and the THH&Co makers' mark for T.H. Hazlewood & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the set.
