2 x George III Bright Cut Silver Teaspoons, 1801

This is a very elegant pair of George III Sterling Silver Teaspoons in the Old English pattern with Bright Cut engraved decoration. The spoons have a criss cross pattern up the stems, which catches the light beautifully, a pattern of dots at the top of the stem and the initials "E.B" neatly engraved in the cartouche.
The pair of spoons are made in London in 1801 by the wonderfully named trio of Samuel Godbehere, Edward Wigan and James Boult. Godbehere and Wigan were in partnership from around 1786, with Boult joining them around 1800. Wigan departed the partnership around 1816 and Godbehere and Boult continued for a short while afterwards before James Boult set up on his own.
Condition of the spoons is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal wear. Although they are 220 years old they don't appear to have had a great deal of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoons are each 11.5cm / 4.5" long and the pair together weigh in at 18.8g / 0.66oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the London date letter "F" for 1801, the George III duty mark and the SG over EW over IB makers' mark for Samuel Godbehere, Edward Wigan and James Boult.
