6 x Art Deco Silver Golf Teaspoons, Walker & Hall

This is a very good quality set of six Art Deco Sterling Silver Teaspoons in their original case. The spoons are in the revived Dog Nose pattern with a crossed golf clubs and golf ball design at the top of the stems.
The set of spoons is made in Sheffield by Walker & Hall and date to 1933. Walker & Hall are one of the most famous and respected names in English silver and this is a very well made set in a good heavy gauge of Sterling Silver.
Dog Nose was an early spoon pattern that appeared between the late 1690s and the early 1720s. It was revived in the early 20th century and proved very popular during the Art Deco era between the wars. This period also saw a dramatic increase in the popularity of golf, with many new golf courses and clubs springing up around the country and golf related motifs are often found on spoons of this time.
Condition is very good, with just a very slight ding to the tip of one teaspoon and the superficial surface wear that you would expect after nearly 90 years of use. The case is a bit scuffed on the outside but the hinge and clasp are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoons are each 11cm long and the set of 6, unboxed, weighs a substantial 81.7g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the underside of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter q for 1933 and the W & H makers' mark for Walker & Hall. In addition there is a registered design number of 725803, which dates the original design to 1926/27.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
