Chinese Bronze Peacock, Early 20th Century

This is a fine early 20th century bronze of a peacock holding a flower in its beak. The quality of the casting and the detailing of the feathers is of the highest order.
The peacock is a symbol of grace, dignity, and sophistication. It's particularly associated with the Ming Dynasty during which time it stood for divinity, beauty, power, and rank. With its tail of 100 eyes, the peacock is also associated with the goddess of compassion Guan Yin.
Dimensions: Width 28 cm x Depth 10 cm x Height 16 cm
Weight 1.84 kg
Condition: This bronze is in very good antique condition with a lovely dark patina with just the tips of the feathers and the edges of the petals on the flower, where there has been the most wear, exposing the lighter colour of the unoxidised metal.
Please use the inquiry form to request further details of this item or make a purchase, or contact David directly on 07931 370372. A few additional photographs are available.
