Cut Glass & Silver Oil Bottle, Hukin & Heath, 1932

This is a top quality George V Sterling Silver Mounted Cut Glass Oil Bottle. The bottle has a central band of deep cut vertical lines with diamond cut bands above and below. The base is star cut and the neck is thumb marked. The stopper has a pierced cork with a silver pouring tube going through it and a domed circular silver topper.
Originally intended as an oil bottle for the dining table this would equally well on a cocktail bar for pouring your favourite ingredient.
The bottle is made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Hukin & Heath and dates to 1932. Founded in Birmingham by Jonathan Hukin and John Heath in 1855, the firm is best known for its collaboration with Dr Christopher Dresser and their exhibitions of his groundbreaking designs for them at their London showroom. Hugely successful, the firm remained in business producing a broad range of consistently top quality silverware up until 1953.
Condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the glass bottle and no damage to the silver pourer, just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bottle is 18cm / 7ins high and 6.2cm / 2.4ins in diameter at it's broadest point. It weighs 380g / 13.4oz.
The hallmarks on the topside of the pourer are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter H for 1932 and the H & H makers' mark for Hukin & Heath.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
