Edwardian Bright Cut Silver Teaspoon, London, 1903

This is a top quality Edwardian Bright Cut Sterling Silver Teaspoon in the traditional Old English pattern. The bright cut engraving on the front of the stem is exquisitely done and catches the light beautifully. The spoon is assayed in London by well-known silversmiths Josiah Williams & Co in a good gauge of silver and dates to 1903. Although their items were assayed in London (and occasionally in Birmingham) Josiah Williams & Co were based in Bristol (which had no assay office). There is no personalisation of any kind on the spoon. The hallmarks, on the reverse of the stem, are well struck and clear to read.
The Teaspoon is in very good overall condition with only minimal wear and tear, certainly nothing more than you would expect in an item of this age and use. This spoon would make a lovely gift with a blank cartouche which could be engraved for the new owner or would be a great addition to any collection. Please make sure to view all the photos.
The spoon is 11.6cm long and weighs a very respectable 12.7g of solid sterling silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "h" for 1903 and the GJ over DF makers' mark for George Jackson and David Fullerton of Josiah Williams & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
