Edwardian Silver Cream Jug, John Rose, 1903

Here we have a charming small Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug. The jug is made in Birmingham by John Rose and dates to 1903. John Rose founded his company in Hockley Street in the heart of Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter around 1900. The firm quickly established a reputation for good quality silver tableware and personal items and remained in business until 1977.
This lovely little round jug is a classic "sparrow beak" creamer with a delicate handle and a beaded rim. It would add a real touch of elegance to any afternoon tea or breakfast tray and shows that classic Edwardian combination of style and functionality. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
Condition is very good with just the tiniest of dings to the base, which is hard to spot, doesn't affect how the jug sits and is invisible during use. There is a minimal amount of superficial surface wear from nearly 120 years of service. This little jug has clearly been well looked after. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The jug is 4.5cm / 1.75" in diameter, 6.6cm / 2.6" from spout to handle and stands 4.8cm / 1.8" tall at its highest point. It weighs 30.5g / 1.07oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "d" for 1903 and the J R is separate squares makers' mark for John Rose.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
