George III Irish Silver Cream Jug, Dublin, 1802 George III Georgian Irish %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Here we have a good quality George III Sterling Silver Cream Jug from the early 19th century. The cream jug is in the classic style of the period, oval in shape with a flat base and a line decorated handle. There are upper and lower bands of foliate engraving and an armorial on each side, the design of which has sadly rubbed away with many long years of cleaning.

The cream jug is made in Dublin by James Scott and dates to 1802. James Scott was a jeweller and silversmith based in Trinity Place, Dublin between the early 1800s and the mid-1830s and is best known for his flatware and tableware.

Condition is very good with just a small, very shallow dent to one side of the handle and the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after 220 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The jug is 13.8cm / 5.4ins from lip to handle, 7.2cm / 2.8ins across and stands 11.6cm / 4.6ins high. It weighs a substantial 152.0g / 5.4oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, just below the upper rim, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the crowned harp for Irish Sterling Silver, the Hibernia assay mark for Dublin, the date letter F for 1802 and the I.S makers' mark for James Scott.

Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug.
