George V Silver Bonbon Dish, Birmingham, 1921 %%alt5%%
This is a lovely George V Sterling Silver Bonbon Dish standing on three legs. The dish has a scalloped rim and pierced sides with a fluted base. The Bonbon Dish was made in Birmingham by the silversmiths Abrahams Brothers and dates to 1921. The Abrahams Brothers operated from Birmingham's Vyse Street (the road in which the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter now stands) from around 1900 to the mid-1930s.

Condition of the Bonbon Dish is very good with no dings or dents and the pierced sides are fully intact with no splits. The three legs and feet are sound and the dish stands perfectly on a flat surface. The hallmarks on the outside of the dish are well struck and clear to read and there is also a registered design number stamped inside the dish.

The Bonbon Dish is 9cm in diameter at its widest part and stands 4.2cm high at it's tallest point. It weighs 39.9g of solid sterling silver.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "w" for 1921 and the A over BROS makers' mark for Abrahams Brothers. In addition there is a registered design number 630844 which dates the design of the piece to 1914.
