George V Silver Bonbon Dish, Synyer & Beddoes 1913

Here we have a very attractive George V Sterling Silver Bonbon Dish with two handles. The dish has pierced sides, a quatrefoil shape, a rim decorated with tiny crosses and the handles are designed as laurel wreaths tied with bows. Although from the early years of George V\'s reign, it remains very much in the Edwardian style.
The dish is made in Birmingham by celebrated silversmiths Synyer & Beddoes and dates to 1913. Harry Synyer & Charles Beddoes established their firm in Birmingham\'s famous antique jewellery quarter in 1896. They produced a wide range of refined and elegant silver items, predominantly for personal use up until the company\'s closure in around 1950.
Condition is very good with just a truly tiny ding in the rim of the base. The pierced sides have no splits or damage and the handles are in fine condition and very secure. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bonbon dish is 8.7cm / 3.4ins square, 12.7cm / 5ins from handle to handle and stands 2.9cm / 1.1ins high. It weighs a substantial 60g / 2.12oz, which, given the pierced sides, shows what a good gauge of silver it is made in.
The hallmarks on the underside of the base are clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter o for 1913 and the distinctive SB makers\' mark for Synyer & Beddoes.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the dish.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
