This very high quality Japanese work of art dates to the early 20th century. It is made of mat finish patinated iron which has been beautifully hand chased with a detailed scene showing a gnarly pine tree branch with a delicate array of pine needles. Sat on an open section at its centre is a large eagle that is about to take to the air to give chase to two small flying birds.

This fine hand chased scene has been meticulously inlaid in pure gold and silver, and this beautiful inlay of precious metals has been further enhanced with intricate hand engraving.

The plaque is fully signed on the lower left side with Japanese character marks inlaid with silver.

The plaque is raised onto three small, shaped feet.
