Charming rare set of silver and gemstone spoons by Edinburgh silversmith Norah Creswick circa 1935.
Norah married into the Creswick family of metal workers and having moved to Edinburgh with her husband, established herself as a maker of small silver items and jewellery and registered her own mark with the local assay office in 1937.
Presumably these spoons date from the period prior to registering as they are unmarked and come in a faux shagreen case (perhaps associated) along with Norah’s business card where she describes herself as a designer/maker of hand-wrought silver.
In true arts and crafts fashion, the spoons have small variations to the length, size and shape of the planished pear-shaped bowls and terminals.
They measure approximately 11 cm long and combined weight is 68 grams. Currently shipping to UK and USA.
