Rare Silver Caddy Spoon, George Unite, 1868

A superb design from an exceptional silver maker, George Unite, this silver caddy spoon has a deep shell-shaped bowl decorated with embossed flowers, seeds and foliage, and a ring loop handle. George Unite was unique in producing the distinctive loop handle caddy spoon. For an identical example, see ‘Caddy Spoons, An Illustrated Guide' by John Norrie, plate 57b.
The silver caddy spoon presents GU, the Lion passant, the Birmingham assay mark, and date letter 'T' for 1868. Full hallmarks to the bowl.
Condition:
In very good condition with no damage or repairs.
