Silver Tiffany & Co. Chrysanthemum Orange Spoons

A beautiful set of six antique silver orange spoons by Tiffany & Co. in the magnificent Chrysanthemum pattern, designed by Charles Grosjean, this is one of the most desirable of all their patterns with superb cast decoration to the handles and extending into the heel of the bowl. Entwined and over-lapping leaves with small flower buds peeking out and finishing with an open chrysanthemum at the tip. One of most charming elements of this design is the incorporation of the hallmarks appearing as though the pattern has wrapped itself around the already hallmarked spoon, a beautiful detail that shows Tiffany quality at its finest. The bowls are gilded to protect the spoons from the fruit acid. Perfect for grapefruit or indeed still oranges!
Marked "TIFFANY & Co. STERLING PAT.1880.M", c.1880-1891, made under the tenure of Edward C. Moore, these are early examples of this pattern. 1880 is the reference to the pattern number.
They measure 14.9cm (5 7/8") long and weigh a substantial 239g / 7.7ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair. Very minor signs of age and use the tip of one has been slightly rounded off. The decoration and marks are lovely and crisp and each has a period monogram.
