Bronze Cherub Putti Group C1850
Here is as fantastic antique bronze figure group of two cherubs, probably French. What is particularly unusual is that one of the cherubs has the legs of a goat. This one is holding a basket of grapes which the seated cherub seems to be eating from. The detail on the piece is superb and there is lots going on in such a small area. There is grape detail on the head of the seated cherub. There is a lion head and skin draping from the shoulder of one of the cherubs. In between them is a milk pale and the milk is flowing out. A beautiful sculpted bronze.
