Early 20th C Silver Chantilly Sifter Spoon, Gorham

This is a good quality Early 20th Century Sterling Silver Sifter Spoon in the elegant Chantilly pattern. This pattern was introduced in 1895 and produced up until the 1930s before being relaunched in the 1950s. The sifter spoon has the letter G in Old English style engraved at the top of the stem.
The spoon was made in the USA by the Gorham Manufacturing Company and dates to around 1900-1930. One of the most famous names in American silverware, the Gorham Manufacturing Company began life in 1831 when Jabez Gorham and Henry Webster founded Gorham & Webster. They went through various partnerships and name changes until settling as the Gorham Manufacturing Company in 1865. Based in Providence, RI, they were hugely successful up until the 1960s when the company was sold and then became just a brand name changing owners on many occasions.
Condition is very good, with no dings, dents or damage and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The sifter spoon is 11.6cm / 4.5ins long and 4.8cm / 1.9ins across the bowl. It weighs in at a respectable 16.6g / 0.58oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The underside of the stem is stamped PAT.1895, when the Chantilly pattern was originally introduced, the unboxed lion, anchor and Old English G trademarks for Gorham Manufacturing Company in the early years of the 20th century and STERLING for 925/1000 grade Sterling Silver.
Shipping in the UK is £5 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
