Edwardian Silver Floral Cream Jug, J. Gloster 1907

Here we have an elegant Edwardian Sterling Silver Cream Jug. The lower part of the body is embossed with flowing foliage and flowers surrounding a blank cartouche at the front.
The cream jug was made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Joseph Gloster Ltd and dates to 1907. Joseph Gloster registered his first mark at the Birmingham assay office in 1888 and set up business at the Lion Silver Works. The firm produced a very wide range of silverware and were quickly successful, becoming Joseph Gloster Ltd in 1901. They remained in business up until around 1980.
Condition is very good with just a small shallow bruise to the bottom rim of the jug towards the back plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 115 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 7.8cm / 3.1ins from lip to handle, 4.7cm / 1.8ins across the body and stands 7cm / 2.7ins high. It weighs in at a respectable 46.1g / 1.62oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the side of the upper part of the body, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter h for 1907 and the J.G makers' mark for Joseph Gloster Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
