George V Silver Trinket Dish, London, 1921
This is a very elegant George V Sterling Silver Trinket Dish from the 1920s. The dish is made by John Bennett Ltd in London and dates to 1921. It's not clear whether John Bennett Ltd was a manufacturer or a retailer. This particular mark is only known from the year 1921, so it is very rare.
The trinket dish has pierced sides and a beaded rim. It's a well made piece in a decent gauge of silver and would look very attractive on a dressing table or bedside cabinet today.
Condition is very good with just a couple of tiny pinprick dings in the base and the superficial surface marking that is inevitable in a dish for this purpose. There are no splits in the delicate pierced sides and it retains it's proper circular shape. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The trinket dish is 7.7cm / 3" in diameter and 2.2cm / 0.8" high. It weighs in at a respectable 18.4g / 0.65oz.
The hallmarks in the base of the dish are crisp and very clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter "f" for 1921 and the JBLtd makers' mark for John Bennett Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
