Silver Cigarette Case William Henry Leather 1903
Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this fine quality, plain Edwardian silver cigarette case with gilt wash interior complete with the straps to secure the cigarettes. The plain body lacks the fussy detailing of similar cigarette cases of the period, minimalist in style, with a clean, bright modern look despite its antiquarian age. The cigarette case has a gently curved rectangular body, which is designed to perfectly fit into a pocket. The case has a period monogram with two conjoined letters.
This would be the perfect sustainable present for a loved one or a great accessory to store, roll up cigarettes, credit cards, business cards and money. Alternatively this English, antique silver cigarette case would look stylish and impressive on display in your home.

Condition Report
In good overall condition for its 119 year age. The case has some deep age related scratches to the body, the monogram and the hallmarks look somewhat faded but still readable, some wear and very minor wear to the gilt wash interior, with some tarnish marks evident on the interior, the bands that hold the cigarettes in place are in sound order.
The clasp works smoothly snapping shut upon closing the case. There is a very small dink to the front of the case and a graze/knock and bruising to the bottom right corner of the case. A noticeable deep scratch to the front under the monogram is evident and similar scratch marks within the monogram plus two deep scratches just above the hinge, see photos. There are no signs of major damage and looks like it has been well looked after during its 119 year life.
