Quality Solid Silver Photograph Frame 1918

A quality solid sterling silver photograph frame by Frederick Brasted, London 1918. The photograph frame is of plain rectangular form with a broad border. Particularly heavy gauge solid silver frame with inset back-board behind a glass picture cover. Back-board with hinged strut support - both professionally recovered in quality navy-blue cotton velvet and navy watermarked moire backing. Hallmarked for the London assay office 1918 and for silversmith Frederick Brasted. The frame measures 20.5 cm by 15.5 cm. Aperture measures 17.25 cm by 12.25 cm.
This silver frame is in excellent overall condition commensurate with age. The silver frame has exceptionally minor signs of use. Frame back and strut are solid. Please see images as they forms an important part of the description.
Little is recorded for London silversmith Frederick Brasted except that he registered his first mark in partnership with John Bell in 1857. He subsequently registered a mark on his own, also with the London assay office in 1862. He produced a number of high quality silver items. Viewing welcomed - please contact us in advance.
