Harris Lebus - furniture manufacturer, London (1840s-1960s).
A very successful family furniture manufacturing business set up by Louis Lebus and his two sons Harris and Solomon in the East end of London. In 1883 it had become the largest manufacturing firm in England. During both world wars their factories greatly helped with the war effort and after both wars continued their furniture making with great success. In 1947 a public company was formed. The company went into decline during the 1960s after the death of Sir Herman Lebus.
