Chad Valley

Chad Valley is a long-established brand of toys in the United Kingdom. Founded by Anthony Bunn Johnson in the early 1900s. The company derived its name from the area they operated from Harborne Chad Valley. Although having its roots in printing. The company expanded into soft toys and in particular Teddy bears. In 1938 the company received a Royal warrant as 'Toymakers to H.M. The Queen'. After the 2nd world war they produced tin plate toys for the first time. The company was one of the UK's leading toy makers for most of the 20th century.

In the 1970s the company closed several factories and in 1975 the company was acquired by Palitoy. Today the Chad Valley brand is now available exclusively at Argos.
