Alan Acornman Grainger
In 1958 in the Yorkshire village of Bransby, Alan Grainger and his father Alan Grainger senior set up business, Acorn Industries, makers of furniture to the Arts and Crafts tradition.
They adopted an acorn as their trade mark, with an acorn carved on all of their pieces. Their style is very much like that of Mouseman furniture who Alan Grainger senior had served his apprenticeship with.
The company closed in 2005 when the last family member of the business retired.
Robert 'Mouseman' Thompson trained many local craftsmen, many of whom created their own similar trademarks - known collectively as the Yorkshire critters.
