Grainger Worcester
Grainger’s Worcester Porcelain.
Founded by Thomas Grainger and his partner John Wood in 1801.
They set up in Lowesmore, Worcester in 1801. They started by decorating blank porcelain made by other companies. In 1807 they began to make their own porcelain, gaining a good reputation for their products. Thomas Grainger died in 1839 and his son George took over the company, embracing the Neo-Rococo style in the 1830’s & 1840’s and diversified producing embossed tiles for fireplaces, unglazed china figures and door furniture. George Grainger died in 1889 and the company was sold to Royal Worcester.
