Delftware, Delft pottery, known also as Delft Blue. Blue and white pottery made in the Delft in the Netherlands. It is a type of tin-glazed earthenware. The main period of tin-glaze pottery in the Netherlands was 1640–1740, at this time Delft potters began using personal monograms and distinctive factory marks. Delftware ranged from simple household items to fancy artwork. Wall tiles in vast numbers were made and can still be seen in houses today, these are very collectable today. Delftware became popular and was widely exported in Europe. China and Japan made their version of Delftware and exported it to Europe.
